Donald T. Hornung, 77, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, at Aspirus Hospice House after a courageous 14 month battle against cancer. “He fought the good fight”.

He was born Dec. 31, 1930 to the late Clarence and Antoinette (Duginski) Hornung in Wausau. On Oct. 1, 1949 he married the love of his life, Geraldine Blank in Wausau. They celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Donald worked for 35 years as a well driller and then worked for France Propane. He was a member of the operating engineer’s union #139C. He was a loyal Green Bay Packer fan, attending most games, including the Ice Bowl. He also was an avid gardener.

Survivors include his wife Geraldine, Kronenwetter, one son, Scott (Jenny LaPorte) Hornung, Kronenwetter, three daughters, Susan (Dennis) Dabbert, Kronenwetter, Debbie (Kenneth) Krautkramer, Kronenwetter, Karen (Bernard) McKay, Kenosha; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren; two brothers, Richard (Lorraine) Hornung, Wausau, and James (Janice) Hornung, Merrill.

A funeral service will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday Feb. 6, 2008, at Hayden-Buettgen Funeral Home, 948 Grand Ave., Schofield. Father Allen Slowiak will officiate. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Kronenwetter. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service, all at the funeral home.
