| | | Leona N. Corda, 81, Schofield, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2006 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born on Aug. 15, 1925 to the late Joe O. and Elsie (Dalski) Lang in Cassel. On June 24, 1953 she married Robert Corda at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marathon. He preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 2001.
The couple made their home in Schofield. Leona raised her family and enjoyed babysitting, quilting, gardening, dancing, traveling and playing cards.
Leona was an active 25-year member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, St.Mary's Court 498, Wausau. She was the recipient of the Merit Award, the Legion of Honor (highest award given to a member) and the Outstanding Forester Award. She was a member of the Central Wisconsin Legion of Honor Club. During her tenure with the Catholic Order of Foresters, she held offices of Program Director and Sentinel.
She is survived by one daughter, Pat (Steve) Jensen, North Oaks, Minn., two sons, David (LouAnn) Corda, Rothschild, and Tom Corda, Anderson, Ind., grandchildren, Erica, Brian, Amanda and Cassandra Jensen and Brent, Ben and
Craig Corda, brothers Alois (Mildred) Lang, Hartford, Charles (Gean) Lang, Edgar, Oscar (Vernie) Lang Milwaukee, and Norbert (Frances) Lang, Edgar, sisters Agnes (Ernie) Murray, Eagle River, and Marcy Dabroski, Weston, sister-in-law, Mildred Gruny, Marathon.
She is preceded in death by brothers Raymond and Victor Lang and one sister, Irene Semski.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006,at St. Therese Catholic Church, Rothschild. Rev. Donald Berg will officiate. Entombment will follow at the Restlawn Memorial Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at the Hayden-Buettgen Funeral Home, Schofield, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the Church. There will be at 6:30 p.m. rosary led by the Catholic Order of Foresters Court 498 Monday evening.
Memorials may be directed to the UW Cancer Relay Team for life and Comfort Care and Hospice Services in Leona's name.
A special thanks are expressed to the staffs at the Renaissance Center and the Staff of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau hospital.
