| | | Bernice “Bunny” Wenzel, 80, Wausau, entered her heavenly home Monday, July 28, 2008, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born July 21, 1928, to Peter & Helen (Scholbe) Melchiors. On July 29, 1950, she married Harold Wenzel at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau.
Bunny enjoyed going to Hilton Head Island, playing bridge, cooking and shopping. She listened to WSAU news radio – her family called her their personal weather forecaster. Her favorite times were Christmas Eve and birthday gatherings with the family. She worked for many years as a shoe salesperson at Treasure Island, Big Shoe Store and Johnson Hills, jobs she truly loved.
She is survived by her husband Harold, Wausau; two daughters, Jeanne (Todd) Stanecki, Rothschild and Judy (Mark) Jacobs, Mosinee; five grandchildren, Greg (Tracy) Geib, Brian (Amy) Geib, Kevin (Jessica) Geib, Eric Jacobs, Andy Jacobs, one great- granddaughter, Amelia Mae Geib; two step-grandchildren, Nick Stanecki and Andrew Stanecki and one step-great-grandson River Stanecki. She is also survived by her sisters, Mernie (Harold) Roloff, Kaukauna, Shirley Leonard, Milwaukee; and brother-in-law, David Andrews, Kaukauna. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Dolores Andrews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Aspirus Comfort Care and Palliative Services for their loving care during her stay.
Services will be held Thursday, July 31, 2008, at 11:30 A.M. at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 6205 Alderson St., Weston, with the Rev. Ray Connor officiating. Visitation will be 9:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at the church. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Wausau.
