| | | Norman Zastrow, 76, fought a courageous battle with cancer, died Sunday, October 19, 2008, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, Wausau.
He was born December 23, 1931, in Wausau, son of late Roman and Helen (Horan) Zastrow. On October 20, 1956, he married Betty J. Nead in Wausau at St. Therese. She survives.
He worked and retired from JI Case, serving a devoted 23 years. He enjoyed wood working, and had an interest in genealogy, and later in life he took up golfing. He loved his Irish background and took much pride in it.
Survivors include his wife Betty J.(Nead) Zastrow, his children Mike Zastrow, Patrick (Kori) Zastrow, Robert Zastrow, Susan (Dan) Ast, and Debra (Thomas) Aldridge; followed by 9 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grand Child, 1 brother Willard (Carol) Zastrow, 3 sister in laws Janet Zastrow, Gladys Horan, and Agnes Zastrow, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by 5 brothers; Leonard Horan, Kenny Hanson, Chuck Hanson, Verle Zastrow, Grover Zastrow, and 3 sisters; Judith Horan, Celeste Zielsdorf, and Mercelyn Joswick.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Wednesday October 22, 2008 at St. Mark, with 1 hour visitation prior to Mass. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. A public viewing on Tuesday October 21, 2008 will be held from 4-8pm with a 7:00pm Prayer Vigil at Hayden-Buettgen Funeral Home, Grand Avenue.
