Jerry was born in Marshfield on March 14, 1932 to George and Nora (Rondorf) Buffington. Jerry was married to Odelia “Breezie” Winzenried on August 7, 1954. Jerry attended NCTI College in Wausau, earning his Associates Degree in Mechanical Design. He worked at Zimpro for 32 years and enjoyed many years of retirement residing in Rothschild with Odelia. In August of 2004 Jerry and Breezie celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary surrounded by many family and friends.
He was a kind and gentle man who gave his time to anyone who needed it. During his daily telephone conversations with his children and grandchildren, he was so proud to say he was “alive and kicking”.
Jerry enjoyed listening to Wisconsin Public Radio (“Prairie Home Companion”), reading, sitting on his porch in the Northwood’s, being an avid card player, and building projects that included his home and cabin. He was especially proud of his grandchildren, which included talking baseball and watching the games. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and keeping up with their busy lives.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; Jim Buffington, Don Buffington, Jack Buffington and George Buffington; two sisters; Mary Pankratz and Delores Moran.
Services will be held on Jerry’s 77th Birthday, Saturday, March 14, 2009 at St. Mark Catholic Parish, 602 Military Road, Rothschild. Visitation will be at 10:00am followed with mass at 11:00am.
