Charlotte “Charlie” Cunningham of Schofield passed peacefully away on Sunday, April 5, 2009 under the care of the Aspirus Hospice Care Services (Hospice House). Charlie was born on September 20, 1942 to Donald and Marian (Froemming) Sillars in Wausau. She graduated from Wausau High in 1961 and later moved to California where she married Gary Cunningham. The resided most of their 46 years of marriage in Schofield.
Charlie was a mother, homemaker, caregiver, and later worked in retail sales. She worked with close friends at the Passport World of Fashion and then for 18 years at Shopko in Rothschild. She was happiest when socializing with friends, old and new, and was known for her sparkling personality and spirited nature. She enjoyed fishing, golfing, gardening, horseback riding and family life.
Charlie is survived by her husband Gary Cunningham Sr.; one son, Gary (Mary) Cunningham Jr., Montgomery, AL; one daughter ,Terrie (Mike) Lang, Marathon; two sisters, Janice Polzer and Shirley Ross both of Wausau; five grand-children, Nicholas (Annette), Matthew, Victoria, Katrina, Michael and one great-grandchild soon to arrive in April.
Charlie is preceded in death by her parents and two brother-in-laws, Gerald Polzer and William Ross.
The family wishes are to send a sincere thanks to close friends Don, Anna and Cheri Towbridge, neighbors, friends and Angels for their love and compassion throughout the past year.
Service will be held at Hayden-Buettgen Funeral Home on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 12:00p.m. until the time of service.
