Phyllis J. Beam, 80, of Schofield, passed away Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, at Aspirus Hospice House.

She was born Dec. 10, 1928, in Wausau to the late Ernest and Jennie (Hansen) Hintz. Her mother passed away when she was very young and Phyllis was raised by her stepmother, Adeline. On Oct. 8, 1949, she married LaVern Beam. He preceded her in death June 17, 2006.

In her younger years, Phyllis loved to golf and go bowling. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling, reading and embroidery. She shared very special life-long friendships with members of her card club. She was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. Phyllis enjoyed vacationing up north with family and friends at Spider and Star lakes. She treasured time spent with her grandchildren.

She will be sadly missed by her children, David (Kay) Beam of St. Paul, Minn., Robert (Rita) Beam of Marshfield, Kathryn (Mark) Silliven of Mount Pleasant, Mich., and Chris Beam of Rothschild; daughter-in-law, Maxine Beam; grandchildren, Katie (Nathan) Roback, Amy and Sarah Beam, Sean Silliven, Taylor, Mary, Henry and Christopher Beam; and other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Eugene; a grandson, Matthew Beam; and her stepmother, Adeline Hintz.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Rothschild, with the Rev. Richard Block officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Wausau. The visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hayden-Buettgen Funeral Home, Schofield, and again from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the church.

The family would like to thank the staff at Aspirus Hospice House for their loving care and compassion to our mother.

Memorials are appreciated to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church or Aspirus Hospice House.
