| | | Frank David Hale Jr. of Wausau, formerly of Lakeland, Fla., passed away Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at the age of 82 years and 6 months with his family by his side.
He was born April 11, 1927, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Frank and Elva (MacIntosh) Hale Sr. He was united in marriage to Geraldine Iserloth on June 21, 1947, in Plymouth, Wis.
A dedicated patriot, Frank served in the New York National Guard and United States Marines Corps before joining the Wisconsin Army National Guard and retiring after 20 years of meritorious service. Frank was also employed by GTE in 1948 and retired in 1984.
Frank enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cribbage, Green Bay Packer parties, and "melting a few ice cubes" with close friends. He was an active member of the American Legion and the VFW. Frank and Geraldine were charter members of the Highland Fairways senior community in Lakeland, and enjoyed many friendships there. They were also active in Grace Lutheran Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Timothy Hale in 1973 and David "Mike" Hale, in 1981; great-grandson, Michael, in 1990; brother-in-law, August Chirillo, in 2005; and his sister, Rita, in 2008.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Geraldine; his son, Robert (Faye Stencil) Hale of Wausau; and daughter, Barbara (Michael) Jesse of Sauk Rapids, Minn. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Christopher (Carrie) Hale, Lori Hale, Tari (Mike) Jacobs, Tania (Ryan) Hale, Stephanie and Brian Jesse; and great-grandchildren, Daniel and Sabrina Hale.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wausau. Inurnment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery with full military honors. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Friday and the church.
Mid-Wisconsin Cremation Society, Schofield, is assisting family with arrangements.
