| Marian I. Amel, age 89, of Chilton, died on Monday, December 3, 2007 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. She was born November 16, 1918 in Kloten daughter of the late William & Bergetta (Preissner) Diedrich. Marian married Marvin V. Amel on November 20, 1945 in Kloten and the couple farmed together in Johnsburg until retiring in the early 1980's. He preceded her in death on June 24, 1996. Marian was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg and a member of the Christian mothers. She enjoyed quilting and was an excellent seamstress. She was a great baker and loved her sweets. She also enjoyed playing Sheepshead and kept an accurate record of wins and loses. Survivors include her children: Susan (Wayne) Steffen of Chilton and James (Gail) Diedrich of New Holstein; 5 grandchildren: Daniel (Susan) Steffen of Appleton, Joseph (Lisa) Steffen of Roundlake, IL, Brian Steffen of West Allis, Timothy Diedrich of Platteville, and Kristy Reese of New Holstein; 4 great-grandchildren; and brothers: Nicholas "Jake" Diedrich of Chilton and Leonard "Fritz" (Myra) Diedrich of Malone. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters, and four brothers. Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM on Friday, December 7, 2007 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg with the Rev. Joe Coerber officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W Main St., Chilton) from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 6, 2007 and on Friday at church from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM when service will be held. A parish vigil will be at 6:45 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Wieting Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. | ||
