| Gertrude A. Behnke, age 89, of Chilton died on April 12, 2009 at the Willowdale Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in New Holstein. She was born October 28, 1919 in Gilman, WI, daughter of the late Cleveland & Catherine (Murphy) Beam. She married Allen E. Behnke on May 29, 1942 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hilbert. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1983. During her life, Gertrude worked at the Calumet Memorial Hospital in Chilton as the Head Cook. She was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church, and enjoyed reading, playing Solitaire, and playing Sheepshead with her friends. Most of all, Gertrude loved being around her family; she took great pride in her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchild. Survivors include her children: Sharon (Gary) Gruber of Chilton, Susan (George) Borchardt of Chanhassen, MN, Trudy (David) Bates of Chilton, Penny (David) Hoerth of Chilton; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and a sister: Patricia (Vincent) Martin of California. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 2 sisters: Elizabeth Beam, Kathryo Cook; and 4 brothers: Woodrow, Eugene, Richard, & Tommy Beam. Funeral services will be at 5:30 PM on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at St. Martin Lutheran Church (717 Memorial Dr.) in Chilton with the Rev. Wayne Huebner officiating. Burial will be in the St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in Hilbert. Friends may call at the Church from 3:00 PM until 5:15 PM on Thursday, April 16, 2009. Wieting Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. | ||
