| | | Douglas L. Alten age 89 of 821 Vogt Ln. in Chilton died on Monday November 7 at Calumet Medical Center in Chilton. He was born May 20, 1916 in Forest Junction son of the late Fred & Molly (Bornemann) Alten. Doug served in the United States Army during WWII in the European Theater until 1945. He married Ione N. DeTroye on January 26, 1946 in New Holstein and worked for Aluminum Specialty for many years before retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church in Chilton and enjoyed fishing and big band dancing. Survivors include his wife Ione; 1 daughter: Arlis (Robert) Wagner of New Holstein; 2 grandchildren: Shane (April) Wagner of New Holstein, Shellee Wagner of New Holstein; 1 great grandchild: Reed Wagner; 2 sisters: Audrey Stecker of Menasha, Ruth Burbey of Two Rivers; and a brother: Olan (Lucia) Alten of Appleton. Doug is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers: Jerome, Marvin, & Frederick Alten; and 2 brothers-in-law: Wayne Stecker and Herman Burbey. Funeral services will be at 5:00 PM on Friday November 11, 2005 at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Chilton with the Rev. Wayne Huebner officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 4 – 5:00 PM on Friday when services will be held. A memorial fund has been established in the name of Douglas L. Alten. Wieting Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
