  VIEW/SEND CONDOLENCES

George W. Bauer, age 84, of Stockbridge, entered the kingdom of heaven on Mon. Jan. 23, 2006. He passed peacefully at home with his family at his side. He was born on May 6, 1921, son of Theodore and Mildred “Alice” (Hailey) Bauer. George served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and was awarded the Purple Heart during his service to our country. God blessed George with the talent of woodworking and gardening, and he excelled at both. One of the many joys of his life was watching out the window, and seeing all of His birds. George had many friends and family, and anyone he met was never considered a stranger. Survivors include his wife Darlene of Stockbridge, and their children, Linda (Leonard) Morrell, Butch (Rosie) Bauer, Rodger Bauer, Shirley (Rodger) Eldred, Roy Bauer & friend Janet, Ken Bauer, Travis Bauer, Joan (Richard) Allard, Troy (Lisa) Bauer, Jeanie (John) Gallagher, Archie (Julie) Polar, Kari (David) Bessey, Cheryl (Jerry) Ulschmid, Douglas (Joan) Polar, and Wendy (Mike) Bodway, many grandchildren, and great grandchildren, who were close to his heart. George is further survived by special friends Dean, Tammy & Hailey Joas, Courtney & Paige Schierl, and Katherine & Jessica Ecker. He was preceded in death by his parents Theodore & Alice Bauer, a daughter Bernice Kuhlmann, a son Rodney Michael Bauer, his first wife Bessie (Shelton) Bauer, his brothers James Bauer, Henry Bauer, Albert Bauer, & an infant brother. George has now joined these family members and many friends in heaven. Even though he will be sadly missed by family and friends, his words come to mind that “someday soon we will all be together again”. Funeral services will be at 11 AM on Thur. Jan. 26, 2006 at Faith Alliance church in Chilton, with burial to follow in the Portland Cemetery in Brant. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 5 to 8 PM on Wed. and again at the church on Thur. from 10 to 10:30 AM. The family would like to extend special thanks to the Calumet Medical Center in Chilton, his doctors, Michael Hetzner & Jeffrey Paffenroth, the Affinity Visiting Nurses Hospice, and a very special thanks to Rachel Schroeder for making his final days at home comfortable.
