| | | Cyrilla M. “Shirley” (Thiel) Bechlem age 79 of 211 Memorial Dr. in Chilton died on January 30, 2003 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 8, 1923 in Sherwood daughter of the late John &Margaret (Schicker) Thiel. She married Henry F. Bechlem on November 18, 1950 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hilbert. He preceded her in death on December 4, 1998. In her younger years, Shirley drove taxi cab in Milwaukee and after she was married to Henry she worked for 25 years at Tecumseh until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church in Chilton. Survivors include 5 children: Barbara (Voigt) (Larry) Van Dyke of Appleton, Delores (Voigt) Hughes of Appleton, Suzanne (George) Schroeder of Menasha, Carol (Wayne) Olson of Chilton, James Bechlem of Chilton; 7 grandchildren: Shawn (Christine) Olson, Stacey (Jeff) Buechel, Nicole, Stephanie, & Adam Schroeder, and Christopher & Melissa Van Dyke; 3 great grandchildren: Alex & McKayla Olson, Dylan Buechel; and 2 brothers: Roman (MaryAnn) Thiel of Holcomb & Ralph (Georgian) Thiel of Tampa, FL. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Cyrilla was preceded in death by her husband Henry; her parents: John & Margaret; 2 sisters: LaSalla Muenchow, Angeline Schroeder; and a brother: John Thiel. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday February 2, 2003 at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Chilton with the Rev. Kurt Taylor officiating. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park in Appleton. Friends may call at Wieting Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4 – 8:00 PM on Saturday February 1, 2003 and again on Sunday at church from 1:00 until the time of service. The family would like to thank Lynette Pernell and the Calumet Medical Center Hospice for all of their loving care.
