| William J. "Bill" Mayer, age 58, of Valders, died on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at his home in the Town of Eaton. He was born December 31, 1950 in Manitowoc, son of the late Harold & Dorothy (Meyer) Mayer. Bill graduated from Valders High School in 1969 and proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1970 until 1974. Following his honorable discharge, Bill worked a number of years between Ameriquip, United Packaging, and Manitowoc Engineering. He was a member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Kiel, the Wisconsin Steam Antique Engine Club and the American Legion. He enjoyed leatherworking, photography, tinkering with engines, tractors, and working with model kits. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his 3 sisters: Carol (Peter) Schema of Kiel, Linda (Ken) Thrune of West Bend, Sharon (Paul) Reineck of Elkhart Lake; a brother: Ken (Cindy) Mayer of Valders; and his uncles and aunts: Norbert (Sharlene) Meyer of Sheboygan Falls, Lenore (Francis) Sauer of Florida, Clem (Donna) Mayer of New Holstein. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his paternal grandparents: Gottfried & Clara Mayer; and his maternal grandparents: Matt & Loretta Meyer. Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 9, 2009 at Bethlehem United Church of Christ (11608 Lax Chapel Rd.) in Kiel with the Rev. Ashley Nolte officiating. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM on Monday, November 9, 2009.
