Local Burial or Entombment
With a long heritage of service in the surrounding area, our funeral directors are very well versed in the policies of the local cemeteries. If you already own cemetery property, we can assist you be working with the cemetery to coordinate your plans. Since we are responsible for arranging the service details, it is always best for you to come to the funeral home before going to the cemetery or mausoleum to handle their paper work.
Veteran Burial
All honorably discharged veterans are entitled to burial in a National Cemetery. All cemetery charges are free, including the grave space, marker, grave liner, and charge for opening and closing the grave. If the veteran is married, a space for the spouse is also available free of charge. If a veteran elects to be buried in a local cemetery, the government still will provide a free government marker. In a few instances, the veteran’s family is entitled to some monetary reimbursement for funeral expenses, our funeral directors will explain to you at the arrangement conference how this works as well as how we assist with the necessary paper work.
Military Honors
Due to recent Federal Law, all honorably discharged veterans are entitled to Military Honors which consist of at least 2 active military personal to fold and present the flag and play taps on a CD player. However, if your loved one was a member of a service organization such as the American Legion or VFW, many times members of these organizations will be present at the funeral to perform military honors. If this is of interest, our funeral director will coordinate these honors for you.
Options for Permanent Memorialization
Following the cremation, there are very few restrictions as to what may be done with the cremated body. However, it is a known fact that having a place to visit and remember brings real psychological value. Your choice for permanent memorialization provides you and your family a lasting focal point for healing and strength-and an ongoing expression of love. Your options for permanent memorialization include:
*Burial in a cemetery
*Inurnment in a mausoleum or columbarium
*Personal possession of all or a portion at home or in a specific place
*Complete or Ceremonial Scattering on ground, air, or water
*Apportionment and disbursement in different ways
For families who elect to scatter or otherwise apportion the cremated remains, we offer a variety of keepsake urns. These smaller urns allow family members to retain a portion of the cremated remains, so each can remember the loved one in their own private way, while still conducting a Ceremonial Scattering symbolic of the release of the loved one back to the world.
