Alex Michael Shaffer, 22, of Parker City, IN passed away early Wednesday morning, May 2, 2007 due to injuries sustained from an automobile accident on April 18, 2007. He was born November 13, 1984 in Muncie, IN the son of Mike and Kim Shaffer. He was a 2003 graduate of Monroe Central High School. Alex had a big smile, was full of life and often times witty. He had a special place in his heart for children. He enjoyed leisure time with his cars, motorcycle and also boating and jet skiing. Alex worked three years with commercial glass at Roberts Glass of Indianapolis, IN.
He leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Mike and Kim Shaffer of Parker City, IN; a brother, Kent Shaffer; and sister, Andrea Shaffer, both of Parker City, IN; maternal grandparents, Don and Joan Hiatt of Parker City, IN; paternal grandmother, Anita Shaffer of Farmland, IN; aunts and uncles, Anita and Curt Austin of Noblesville, Todd Hiatt of Muncie, Brenda and Brett Eckhardt of Daleville, Marcia and Chris Bane of Hagerstown, Laura Winningham of Indianapolis; several cousins; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Kennard Shaffer.
A service to celebrate Alex’s life will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2007 at Thornburg Memorial Chapel, Parker City, IN. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery in Windsor, IN. Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 2-8 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2007 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Larry Hall Christmas Fund c/o Monroe Central Elementary, 10421 W. St. Rd. 32, Parker City, IN 47368.
